RI Most Wanted

Each month-more than a dozen pictures are posted to the Rhode Island’s most wanted list- run by the Rhode Island state police. Sitting down with Lt. William Accardi, he says some of the most recent photos, feature, a man accused of looking under a bathroom stall at a brown university owned building. As well as a group of men accused of placing skimming devices and cameras on ATM machines around the state. While their pictures are posted, who they are is unknown.
"Currently the ATM skimming scam that is going on we believe we have about 6 suspects, and looking for assistance from the public," says Lt. Accardi.
Over the years state police say the website has had a 50 percent success rate in identifying suspects, thanks to its visitors.
"It’s a great tool to get the public to provide information to us that we can help solve crimes and further they can remain anonymous as well…We helped capture or identify suspects, over 100 last year,” Lt. Accardi says.
Police say some suspects have even turned themselves in, in order to get their picture off the website, adding it’s also helped victims.
