A downtown Providence staple closes its doors.

The restaurant chain “RI RA” Irish Pub was shut down over the weekend due a decline in revenue.

All of its employees have been let go.

The owners posted the following message on the bar’s Facebook page:

After 14 wonderful years in Providence, yesterday we sadly closed our doors for the final time. For years our team worked diligently to create financial stability in the pub, facing severe economic challenges; however, our efforts haven’t produced the required results to enable us to continue. Together with Patrick, we have been working over the last few months with the landlord to create a financially viable business for Patrick and his team to continue to operate at this location in Providence. Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful in this regard and are left with no option but to close the pub.

We wish all our staff & customers the very best and thank you for your support and patronage.

RIRA is the second high–profile establishment to leave union station.

The Capitol Grille is also moving locations.

ABC6 is being told managers will try and reopen RI RA under a different name.
