PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Several volunteers from the local Red Cross have made their way down to Texas to assist in the relief efforts.

Others will hit the road later Tuesday morning driving from Rhode Island to Houston in their emergency response vehicle that is full of supplies.

They will leave Providence at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday to head to Texas in order to provide all the necessary supplies to those affected by Harvey.

The truck will be filled with water bottles, dry foods, and Red Cross blankets.

ABC6 News spoke with one of the volunteers overnight. He says the truck will be inspected before their departure then filled with hot and cold foods, more beverages, and other supplies.

Thus far, 10 volunteers from the state and 4,000 nationwide are helping out in the relief efforts.
