RI Senator Happy With Benefits Extension

Rhode Island still has among the highest unemployment in America, but some relief is on the way.

U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse toured “Network RI” in Pawtucket, on Friday. Whitehouse was there to celebrate the fact that President Obama, and Congress approved newly restored unemployment benefits for many Americans.

Republicans blocked the bill, saying Democrats did not cut spending elsewhere to pay for billions in additional benefits, but eventually the bill passed.
