RIDEM officers seize 69 fish from 3 Mass. men in Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said officers seized 69 fish in Newport from three Massachusetts men with several marine fisheries violations last week.
According to RIDEM, the three men caught 48 tautog, with 47 of them undersized, and 21 black sea bass, with 20 of them undersized.
RIDEM said the men also “failed to produce valid saltwater fishing licenses.”
Officers seized all 69 fish, and RIDEM said “many” were returned to the water.
The owner of the boat was arrested and will be charged in District Court.
Additionally, the boat owner was issued citations for boating safety violations.
