RIDOH announces recall of infant formula powder

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is spreading awareness of a recall involving a specialty infant formula.

RIDOH said Tuesday that Nutramigen Powder is being recalled by Reckitt, Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN).

The department says the product is potentially contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii, a bacteria that can cause severe, life-threatening infections or meningitis.

Nutramigen Powder is a specialty formula for infants with cow milk allergies. 

Consumers who purchased Nutramigen should check the bottom of the can to identify whether the batch number is affected. 

Products with the batch codes listed below have been recalled:

  • ZL3FHG (12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FMH (12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FPE (12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FQD (12.6 oz cans)
  • ZL3FRW (19.8 oz cans)
  • ZL3FXJ (12.6 oz cans)

The products have a UPC Code of ‘300871239418’ or ‘300871239456’ and a “Use By” date of Jan. 1, 2025.

RIDOH said no illnesses have been reported from the recall.
