RIDOH announces recalls for multiple pet food brands for salmonella
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said that Mid America Pet Food is recalling dog and cat food with best by dates before Oct. 31, 2024.
RIDOH said the recalled foods are sold under the brand names Victor Super Premium Dog Foods, Wayne Feeds Dog Food, Eagle Mountain Pet Food, and Member’s Mark.
The recalled foods are reportedly at risk of salmonella contamination, which can result in lethargy and diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. in pets who eat it.
Humans who handle foods contaminated by salmonella are at risk of symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever.
RIDOH said that seven people reported salmonella infections as of Nov. 1.
