RIDOH, DEM advise against contact with multiple state ponds

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) are advising against contact with both Warwick Pond in Warwick and Wenscott Reservoir in Providence, as well as Larkin Pond at Camp Hoffman in South Kingstown.

The advisory is due to blue-green algae blooms in the bodies of water.

Swimming, fishing, boating and kayaking should be avoided in these bodies water, and pets should not be allowed to swim in the water, nor should water from these bodies of water be ingested.
