RIDOH notifies consumers of Bedner Growers cucumber recall

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said Bedner Growers Inc. has recalled cucumbers due to a multi-state salmonella outbreak.

According to RIDOH, the cucumbers were sold between April 29 and May 14, and were distributed individually or in smaller packages that may not have the same brand, product name, or best by date.

The cucumbers purchased by distributors, restaurants, and retailers were labeled “supers,” “selects,” or “plains.”

Bedner Growers Inc. recalled the cucumbers on May 19.

RIDOH said there have been no salmonella cases associated with this recall in Rhode Island.

RIDOH recommends anyone who cannot tell if their cucumber was grown by Bedner Grows to throw it away. Additionally, RIDOH said anyone who believes they have symptoms of a Salmonella infection is advised to contact a healthcare provider.

Symptoms of Salmonella include illness, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
