RIDOH recommends several beaches be closed due to bacteria

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health has recommended that several state beaches be closed due to high bacteria levels.
The beaches that were part of the announcement were:
- Third Beach and Peabody’s Beach in Middletown
- Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth
- City Park and Conimicut Beach in Warwick
- Kent County YMCA in Warwick
RIDOH recommended Scarborough Beach South in Narragansett and Easton’s Beach in Newport also be closed before lifting the recommendation shortly after.
The department said that it would monitor the water quality of each beach and notify the public to any changes.
