PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) recommended the closing of two swimming areas in southern Rhode Island on Wednesday, along with recommending the reopening of one.

RIDOH is recommending that the swimming area at Camp Fuller YMCA in South Kingstown and Spouting Rock Beach Association in Newport be closed due to high bacteria counts.

Kingston’s camp in South Kingstown has been recommended to reopen due to bacteria levels returning to safe levels according to RIDOH.

RIDOH said they will continue to monitor and review water quality through Labor Day weekend at swimming areas.

A list of closed beaches can be accessed here.
