RIDOT announces two-weekend-long closure for the Route 37 West to I-295 North ramp

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced it will be starting a two-weekend-long closure of the ramp from Route 37 West to I-295 North in Cranston for continued bridge construction.

The closures will be happening on the weekends of Aug. 23-26 and from Sept. 6-9. Both weekends the closures will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and end by 5 a.m. on Monday.

RIDOT said when the ramp is closed, drivers will follow a short detour by reversing direction at Route 37’s intersection with Natick Avenue and following Route 37 East to its on-ramp with I-295 North.

RIDOT said that Cranston Street at the Route 37 overpass will be closed for the Aug. 23 weekend with a detour in place, and on the weekend of Sept. 6 the Washington Secondary Bike Path will have a brief detour.
