RIDOT announces weekend closure of Route 146A

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced it will close Route 146A South at Route 146 in North Smithfield starting Nov. 15.

From Friday night at 9 p.m. to Nov. 18 at 6 a.m., this interchange will undergo reconstruction and close all lanes.

To access Route 146 North or South during the closure, RIDOT says to follow the detour using Smithfield Road and Greenville Road.

Additionally, RIDOT will reduce Route 146 North to one travel lane at Route 146A.

RIDOT says the weekend closure will remove the old Spring Brook Bridge and make room to build a new one, which will allow both directions of travel.
