RIDOT: I-95 near Route 4 merger to be paved over next few weeks

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Tonight, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation will be removing the lane shifts at the merger of I-95 and route 4.

RIDOT says this is the last phase of work on a project to widen the highway and provide more space for merging traffic.

Over the next several weeks, RIDOT will be paving that section of I-95, warning that there will be upcoming lane closures in the area.

The lane shifts were part of a larger project to improve safety on I-95 that also included new guardrail installations in between exits 18 and 24.
