RIDOT officially gives Aetna Bridge Co. the go ahead to begin demo of Washington Bridge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Aetna Bridge Co. has officially been given the okay to begin demolition of the westbound side of the Washington Bridge.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation had tentatively awarded the bid earlier in the month. 

A spokesperson for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation said residents should not expect to see the official demo start until September. 

The contract is priced at $45.8 million.
