PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced the opening of a new shared-use path over the Henderson Bridge.

The new path allows bicyclists and cyclists to safely travel between the cities of East Providence and Providence.

RIDOT said the path adds safety precautions including a high intensity activated crosswalk beacon to cross the street and LED lighting for improved visibility.

An onlooker is planned to be added on the south side of the bridge.
