RIDOT postpones Washington Bridge roadwork due to weather

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has postponed construction on the Washington Bridge originally scheduled to begin late Friday night.
The project to re-stripe the bridge’s traffic lanes to mark a dedicated lane for traffic entering the highway from Taunton Avenue/ Route 44 in addition to three lanes for I-195 traffic was put on hold due to weather conditions.
RIDOT Chief of Public Affairs Charles St. Martin said in a statement that construction is now set to begin sometime in the coming week.
The project was originally set to finish early Saturday morning.
