RIDOT testing new traffic pattern on I-195 West

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will be testing new traffic patterns to ease traffic leading up to the Washington Bridge.
The new patterns will be tested over the next few months and starting on Feb. 2 at 10 p.m., the number of lanes on I-195 West will be reduced from three to two starting east of the East Shore Expressway.
This is intended to speed up travel for drivers entering I-195 West from the East Shore Expressway, Broadway and Pawtucket Avenue.
Models show that this new pattern should reduce travel time.
