RIPTA announces routes to state beaches

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will put summer service changes into effect Saturday, June 14, as part of changes made three times a year annually in response to seasonal changes.

Among the changes will be the free shuttle service to the Providence/Newport ferry, including increased frequency on Route 67 to Bellevue/Mansions.

Routes 67 and 68 (CCRI Newport/Memorial Blvd/First Beach) will be free through October 31.

Route 95X (Westerly Park and Ride) will serve CCRI’s Warwick Knight Campus connecting passengers to Routes 13, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 29, 30, 66 and Flex 242.

Express Weekend Service to South County Beaches will be available June 29-August 31 with service from Central Falls, Cranston, North Providence, Pawtucket, Providence and Woonsocket to South County beaches.

The Express Beach Bus will run on weekends and holidays only to Salty Brine in Galilee, Roger Wheeler in Sand Hill Cove and Scarborough beaches.

The fare for these trips will be $2 one-way.

There is also a daily year-round service on Rout e69 (Narragansett/Galilee) from URI running every 60 minutes to South County beaches.
