RIPTA bus drives off road after driver has ‘medical episode’
JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The Jamestown Police Department said that a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority bus veered off road Saturday after its driver suffered a “medical episode.”
Chief James Campbell said the bus was traveling along its normal route in the area of North Road by the Route 138 overpass around 7:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.
Campbell said the came to a stop in the wetland on the east side of the road.
He added that both the driver and the passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
