Some RIPTA routes experience 10 minute delays

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that six routes are on detour Sunday, due to winter weather effects.

Snow and slick road conditions make it difficult for RIPTA vehicles to travel safely. Routes 14, 27, 55, 60, 63, and 67 are currently on detour. RIPTA will continue to restore service on those routes as conditions allow and will also advise riders of any other detours due to winter weather effects.

Riders are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due to slippery conditions.

The safety of employees and passengers are RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work around the clock to restore service.

The following routes are on detour:

Route 14 (West Bay): Buses will not enter the Route 138 Park-n-Ride lot; will pick up on the street.

Route 21 (Reservoir/Garden City): Service restored.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton): Trips will not service Hillcrest Village Apartments

Route 29 (Kent County): Service restored.

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College): Trips will terminate at Shaw’s Plaza. No service to Huxley Avenue. Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Douglas Avenue, left onto Admiral Street, and then continue on Admiral Street terminating at Shaw’s Plaza. Reverse on Inbound.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport): Trips will not service Bay View Apartments

Route 63 (Broadway/Middletown): Outbound trips will follow regular route to Hillside and Beacon, then turn left on West Main Road, left on Maple Avenue and then resume regular route. Detour will reverse on Inbound trips.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee): Service restored.

Route 67 (Bellevue/Mansions): Buses will not use Touro Street. Outbound buses leaving Newport Gateway Center will turn right on America’s Cup Avenue, turn left on Memorial Boulevard, right onto Bellevue Avenue, and then resume regular route. Detour is reversed on Inbound trips.
