RIPTA to hold community meeting for proposed service changes

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Monday the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority will hold its second public hearing on proposed service changes.

The community meeting is in West Warwick at the public library.

There will be several meeting times including noon, 2 p.m., 5 p.m., or 7 p.m. this evening.

The proposed service changes have been revised.

RIPTA officials tell ABC6 that the service cuts are due to a statewide driver shortage.

RIPTA estimates about 30 additional drivers are needed to eliminate the proposed changes.
