WARREN, R.I. (WLNE) – On Saturday, Just Dance!, a Rhode Island dance studio, participated in the first annual nationwide Dance-A-Thon fundraiser in honor of Jamie Guttenberg one of the victims in the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.
This fundraiser was called the Orange Ribbons for Jamie Dance-A-Thone and was started because one of Jamie’s passion in life was dance.
On February 14th, 2018 Jaime Guttenberg, along with 16 other victims at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, was tragically murdered by a troubled former student.

Jamie was only 14 years old and following the tragedy, her parents, Fred and Jennifer Guttenberg, formed Orange Ribbons For Jaime (ORFJ), a non-profit organization to honor their daughter by supporting causes important to her in life, but also causes that deal with the way her life was tragically cut short.
The ORFJ was set-up to raise money for programs that the organizations support, such as funding a scholarship for kids of ALL abilities who will be continuing their education after high school.
The ORFJ’s 2019 Dance-A-Thon will take place all three days on Veterans Day weekend at dance studios nationwide for a three-hour time period.
The Just Dance! dance studio in RI was proud to represent this wonderful cause this past weekend from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Fourteen dancers raised $400 for the nationwide event and dancers began their day with Musical Theatre, followed by Broadway Jazz and finished the day with the dancers separating into groups to self choreograph lead by Sherry Winn, Owner & Director of Just Dance!
Also, the event included a pizza party donated from Bellingham Palace, orange snacks donated by the Bromberg family.
In addition to this, every dancer received an orange ribbon for the event.
