RIVERSIDE, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is closing temporarily.

In a Facebook post, the organization said the closure comes after zoonotic illnesses and precautionary quarantine purposes.

The RISPCA will be closed for the next 10 days, but will still be open to the public for applications and other services.

“Anyone who comes in and has an approved application for an animal will receive a rain check for the promotional pricing for the Bissell Pet Foundation, Empty the Shelter event, which will be honored until Oct 31st,” the organization wrote.
