RISPCA: Glocester man arrested and charged after dog dies due to deglect

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island SPCA said that a Glocester man was arrested and charged after his dog died due to neglect.

Officials said that 39-year-old Michael Pinto was arrested in Glocester on July 29.

RISPCA said that police found an emaciated Great Dane on Pinto’s property. Officials determined that the Great Dane, “Buddy” was severely neglected and required treatment.

Buddy wasn’t able to recover from his mistreatment and died, the RISPCA said.

Pinto was arrested and charged with one count of unnecessary cruelty, one count of overwork, mistreatment or failure to feed animals, and one count of care of dogs. He was arraigned, released on bail and no longer can own animals.
