RISPCA seize 18 cats, remains of 26 others in deplorable home

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) – In a release sent out Wednesday, the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) announced that they have seized 18 living and 26 dead cats from a Newport home.

The RISPCA found the cats while executing a search warrant at 103 Kay Street in Newport, Rhode Island. The search resulted in the discovery of 18 cats living in deplorable conditions, as well as the remains of 26 cats in a freezer.

The 18 living cats have been transported to the RISPCA and the Potter League for Animals.

Criminal charges will be released soon. At this time, information about a suspect has not been released.
