RISPCA ‘Tearing Up My Heart’ fundraiser hopes to net additional donations ahead of Valentine’s Day
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — This Valentine’s Day, the RSPCA is proving that revenge is best served with a side of dog treats.
For a donation, your ex’s name, or anything else that’s been ruff on your heart, will be written on a paper heart and a shelter dog will tear it to pieces!
“Coworkers who love NSYNC were listening to ‘Tearing Up My Heart’ and came up with this idea,” said Stephanie Van Patten, Director of Community Engagement for the RSPCA about the Tearing Up My Heart fundraiser.
“It is enrichment for the dogs as well and fun for us to watch them tear it up and we are literally throwing it to the cause.”
The idea has been a hit, the shelter has already raised about $2,000 and hopes for even more.
“Ok, we really should keep doing what we’re doing because it’s making a difference in the world and people are supporting that and understanding that we’re making a difference,” said Van Patten.
