RITPA announces new Wave to Work program

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — RIPTA announced a new commuter benefits program on Thursday morning.
The Wave to Work program will allow local companies to set up their employees with reliable transportation to work.
Companies will be able to arrange for their employees to use RIPTA’s state-wide transportation system. They’ll also be able to decide if they want to subsidize part or all of the transportation costs for their employees.
Employees of participating companies will get Wave smart cards that they’ll be able to swipe when boarding the bus.
A local manufacturing company, Greystone Inc. in Lincoln, is the first to sign up for the new program.
“Not only is Greystone demonstrating social responsibility, they’re encouraging the use of mass transit by subsidizing transit for their employees. They’re also reducing the costs incurred for an employee to get to work. I urge more companies to participate in this new commuter benefits program, as it benefits both the environment and the workforce,” said Gov. Dan McKee
