Riverside plant poacher caught on surveillance video

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Ring surveillance video from outside Linda Rogers Monmouth Drive home showing the moments a car pulled up to her house last Saturday night followed by a woman walking up to her flowers on her front porch and appearing to lean down before the lights come on and she walks away back to her car.

“[I] came down immediately and looked at my ring cameras and it wasn’t a delivery she was making she was looking to take something from my display,” Linda Rogers said.

Last weekend’s incident was alarming for Rogers who remains in shock over the suspected attempt to take her flower decorations outside her home.

“I don’t understand how people feel they can blatantly just walk to your front door look at whatever’s there take whatever they want and leave,” she said.

Speaking to ABC 6 News Wednesday, Rogers said this has been an ongoing problem in the neighborhood and she’s not the only one feeling the effects.

“Four or five people had mums stolen that same evening and the next day on a couple of streets in this area had mums taken,” Rogers said.

Having things stolen off her front porch during the holiday season is nothing new to Rogers.

An incident last Christmas prompted her to install a voice recording of her Ring video after previously having decorations stolen.

“Last Christmas they stole a giant-sized Grinch off my lawn, and the same thing they walked right up to my front door and took whatever they wanted,” she said.

Rogers shared the video of the suspected plant poacher on social media community pages in hopes of someone recognizing the woman on the surveillance video and be able to find the items taken.

“This neighborhood takes good care of their property they love to decorate and everything looks nice. And to feel you can just walk up and help yourself,” Rogers said.

At this point no police reports have been filed, although Rogers said she was considering it as she continues to hear from more neighbors experiencing these same issues.
