SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) – A road was closed in Seekonk on Tuesday due to a sinkhole.

The Seekonk Police Department said Pine Street was closed between Sand Trap Lane and Eagle Way just after 4 p.m. until further notice.

The Department of Public Works was called to address a large sink hole that developed and made the road impassable, per officials.

Police said detour signs were put in place and encouraged drivers to seek an alternate route.

ABC 6 News crews on-scene observed that the hole had been filled around 5 p.m.

Officials announced the road was reopened shortly after.
