Roger Williams Park Zoo announces passing of 17-year-old aoudad

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Roger Williams Park Zoo announced the passing of a 17-year-old aoudad named Molly.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the zoo wrote that they had to make the difficult decision to euthanize Molly because of health concerns.

“Molly’s animal care team, working closely with the veterinary department, made the decision to humanely euthanize her due to age related changes to her condition, health, and subsequent poor prognosis,” the zoo said. “Molly exceeded the average life expectancy for aoudad (10 years), which speaks to the high level of quality care she received here at the zoo.”

Born at the zoo, Molly has been a fan favorite among guests since 2005.
