Route 6/10 Traffic Advisory from RIDOT

Rhode Island Department of Transportation.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Starting this Wednesday Night, December 22, The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT)  will make pattern changes on the Route 6/10 connector outbound and temporarily close the Harris Avenue on-ramp to Route 6.

The Split on the connector for Route 6 West and Route 10 South will be moved south of its current location, near the Broadway overpass. This will allow RIDOT to close another section, the Huntington Avenue Viaduct and begin work so that traffic heading to Route 6 will use a new bridge passing over a new 0n-ramp and Amtrak’s northeast corridor. Harris Avenue will also need to be closed so work may begin on the Huntington Avenue Viaduct.

RIDOT expects no delays but cautions drivers to slow down due to the road work. When the newest addition to the highway is finished, the old addition will be demolished.
