RWU report finds regional home and apartment prices on the rise
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Whether you’re looking to rent or own, costs have ticked up for both local leases and homes.
According to the recently released Roger Williams University 2025 housing fact book, there has been an 11 percent increase in single-family home prices in the region.
Renting an apartment hasn’t offered much financial relief for tenants, as rent increases have surpassed the one percent national average.
Connecticut and Rhode Island experienced a four percent spike, which accounts for the largest increases.
More than one-third of Rhode Island household income goes to housing, according to the report, and 44 percent of these households are facing severe cost burdens.
Cost burden means that 50 percent of income goes into just housing.
