Sacred Heart School marking final day

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — While many schools are celebrating the last day of school for the current school year, Sacred Heart School in East Providence is celebrating their last day of school ever on Friday.

The school, according to the Diocese of Providence, has seen a drop in enrollment, and is now also facing financial issues.

The final day of school will include a mass at Sacred Heart Church at 9 a.m. and dismissal of students at 11:30 a.m.

Students will be placed in neighboring Catholic schools.

The school, according to its website, first opened its doors in 1917, and has educated students from preschool through the eighth grade.
