Saje Kitchen on Federal Hill to stay closed pending another hearing

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Board of Licenses ordered a Federal Hill restaurant to close following a stabbing there last Friday.

Saje Kitchen will remain closed pending a show-cause hearing next week.

This is not the first incident at Saje.

Last October, the board ordered the restaurant to close after a customer was accused of biting a police officer.

“This board had ordered Saje to be closed, the state reopened them, we have no additional evidence on the record suggesting their safe to operate. The only additional evidence we have on the record since their previous closure is a violent incident. So I have confidence that they can operate safely,” said Dylan Conley, the chair of the Providence Board of Licenses.
