Saturday Morning Weather Update
Good Saturday morning! We’ve been on a streak of wet spring weekends, and this one, unfortunately, looks like it’ll keep that streak going.
We do have some good news in terms of storm development today. While the chance of a strong storm isn’t zero, the chance of storms in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts being strong to severe has diminished a bit thanks to our widespread and stubborn layer of clouds and fog this morning. The longer those clouds hang on, the lower our chances stay. That said, we’re still keeping an eye for storm development in the late morning and early afternoon (11 AM – 3 PM or so). We are still in a Marginal (1 out of 5) Risk, per the Storm Prediction Center. Any strong to severe storm could include the threats of gusty wind, some hail, and heavy rain.
If you’re doing any traveling around New England today, know that parts of New Hampshire, Vermont, northwestern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts there is a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) in place, meaning there could be a few more severe storms in these areas, which could also see a few storms in the timeframe of 4-8 PM in addition to earlier in the day. That round of evening storms looks like it will mostly stay out of our hair here at home, becoming less potent is it moves east. However, we’ll be keeping an eye out should a storm graze Southern New England.
Otherwise, the second half of Saturday looks warm and muggy with high temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Sunday looks decent– not a 10/10, but not bad either. We’ll have a mix of clouds and sun and it’ll be breezy as well (gusts up into the 20s). As low pressure leaves, it could give us a parting gift of a shower or two, but that’s all there is to write home about. Highs will once again be in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Monday stays windy but will be, otherwise, gorgeous! We’ll have lower humidity and plenty of sun! It’ll be cooler, with highs in the low and mid 60s. Tuesday will follow suit, but with calmer winds!
