Saturday Storm
A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for Providence and for much of the region until 9am this morning, during which time light rain and sub-freezing temperatures will create icy conditions on untreated roads. The advisory expires at 10am for areas north and west of Providence, where it will take a bit longer for temps to rise above freezing. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s by late Saturday morning across all of SNE, as periods of heavy rain move thru the area thru the afternoon.
Forecast: Rain moves in before dawn Saturday morning, with some light freezing rain possibly causing icy road conditions, especially N/W of Providence. As temperatures rise above freezing by mid-late Saturday morning, the rain will become heavier and more widespread. Most of the area can expect at least a half inch to an inch of rain, and some street flooding is a concern into Saturday afternoon. The rain will taper off Saturday night, with lows in the low to mid 30s in to Sunday morning.
As the system moves away and wraps in some cooler air, there is a chance of a rain/snow mix on Sunday, and a coating of snow is possible. Otherwise mostly cloudy, blustery and cool Sunday with highs in the upper 30s.
Monday is looking cool and dry, with highs in the lower 40s.
