Saying a Soggy “Hello” to 2025!
And just like that, we’ve made it to the final day of 2024!
Most of the day will be nice. Temperatures will land in the upper 40s and low 50s, mild for this time of year. We’ll have plenty of sun through the morning and into the afternoon. However, our big weather changes begin later in the afternoon, and they could lead to a bit of trouble as we count down to 2025.
Clouds creep in throughout the late afternoon/evening. Any early/mid evening NYE events should be weather-problem-free. However, our next storm drives rain back into southern New England around 11 PM or so. We’ll start with widespread light rain, then the rain intensifies not long after midnight. Don’t be surprised if, in the first hours of January 1, you hear a rumble of thunder or two as well.
Rain tapers off Wednesday morning (looking at about 0.5-1.0″ or so), although a few showers could pop up later in the afternoon. Wednesday’s highs will be in the upper 40s, but it’s the last day of mild weather for a while.
The winds of change usher in some very cold air on Thursday… and those winds will be howling throughout the day. Expect wind speeds in the teens and low 20s Thursday afternoon. Gusts could be upward of 35 mph. High temperatures will only be in the mid 30s, even as we see more sunshine.
Friday is calmer and sunnier, but colder. High temperatures will hover around freezing. Saturday will only hit the upper 20s.
