Scarborough Beach Partially Re-Opened After Bacteria Concerns

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — North Scarborough Beach in Narragansett has been re-opened by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, after they closed the water Tuesday afternoon, due to high levels of bacteria.
As of 2 pm Wednesday, the waters of South Scarborough Beach remain closed.
The closure is the latest in a series of beach closures across the Ocean State in recent weeks.
Over the weekend, seven different beaches were closed due to high levels of bacteria, caused by storm-water.
All seven of those beaches re-opened Monday afternoon, but by Tuesday, officials with the Department of Health and the DEM recommended closing all of Scarborough beach, as water tests revealed high levels of bacteria.
