A seafood plant in New Bedford is eliminating about 200 jobs.

High Liner Foods said in a news release that it will close down the “Value-Added” processing plant where raw fish would be processed.

The scallop processing operations will remain.

The company says the closing is due to increased capacity at their locations in New Hampshire and Virginia. They goal is to reduce excess capacity in its production network.
