Seekonk police arrest Rhode Island man for alleged liquor store robbery

SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) — The Seekonk Police Department said that a Johnston man was arrested in connection with the robbery of a liquor store on Wednesday.

Gary Tallo, 32, was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery, and resisting arrest, among several other charges.

Police said they were dispatched to Winn’s Liquors on Brook Street for reports of an armed robbery.

Officers were told that a white male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, was threatening a clerk with a knife, physically assaulted the clerk, and stole an unknown amount of cash, liquor, and cigarettes.

Police pursued the suspect who was fleeing on foot, before holding him at gunpoint until he complied with orders to drop the knife.

Tallo was arraigned Thursday morning and that the stolen property was recovered at the scene.
