Seekonk Police discover stolen gun after arrest of Middletown man

SEEKONK, M.A. (WLNE) – A twenty three- year-old Middletown man with a warrant out for his arrest was apprehended in Seekonk early Wednesday morning near Motel 6.
According to Seekonk police, an officer approached Kyle Mello’s vehicle pulled over inside the Motel parking on Fall River Ave to check on him, due to an increasing number of overdoes.
Mello, whose face was concealed with a hoodie, was processed after the officer on duty recognized multiple warrants against him and that he was in possession of various items, including an open bottle of alcohol, marijuana and a gun that had been reported stolen in Georgia.
Mello was brought on charges of leaving a firearm in a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, open container of marijuana, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and open container of alcohol.
He was arraigned in Tauton District Court later Wednesday morning.
