CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) _ The Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is hosting a free seminar for seniors to learn how to prepare for a disaster.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at the Cranston Senior Enrichment Center.

The agency is partnering with the city of Cranston, the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs, the Department of Health, National Grid, the Rhode Island Red Cross and United Way 2-1-1.

Emergency management officials will discuss developing a disaster-supply kit, making an emergency plan and knowing what emergency resources are available.

Seniors can register for alerts from CodeRED, a rapid emergency notification system, sign up for the Rhode Island Special Needs Emergency Registry and fill out emergency contact and medical forms.

The agency plans to host similar seminars throughout the state.
