Sen. Reed to rename India Street for Day of Portugal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island is set to celebrate the annual Day of Portugal festival.

Sen. Jack Reed will kick-off the weekend at India Point Park by renaming India Street to Portugal Parkway.

The celebration, which has occurred on the second weekend of June since 1978, commemorates Portuguese history, language and culture.

Gov. Dan McKee and Mayor Bob DaSilva spoke at a raising of the Portuguese Flag in East Providence on Monday.
