CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Democratic Senator Frank Lombardi has announced he will not seek reelection, and will retire at the end of the term.
“Representing the people of District 26 has been a tremendous honor,” he said.
“I am humbled by the support of my constituents and grateful for their trust in me. Serving in the Senate is my responsibility I take very seriously, and I work each day to serve as a strong voice for District 26,” he said in a statement.
“I am proud that I never missed a day of session throughout my tenure in the Senate. I hope and believe that I have made a positive difference to improve our community and our state,” he said.
Lombardi was elected in 2012, and has been noted for helping creating numerous bi-partisan laws in the state and for his induction into the Rhode Island Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame after years of teaching high school and college soccer.
