Senator Whitehouse votes ‘no’ on RFK, Jr HHS confirmation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WLNE) — United States Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island stated on social media Tuesday that he will vote no on the confirmation of Robert Kennedy, Jr to head the Department of Health and Human Services.

The announcement came late Tuesday morning on Twitter where Whitehouse posted:

Mr. Kennedy has not come remotely close to providing adequate assurances that he will follow the well-established science on vaccines, nor remedy the ways CMS hurts Rhode Island, so I cannot support his nomination.

Kennedy’s nomination passed through the Senate Finance Committee along party lines with a 14-13 vote Tuesday.

Kennedy will now face a full United States Senate vote.
