Serious injuries reported in East Providence crash, several thousand lose power

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Serious injuries were reported after a crash that knocked down a utility pole in East Providence on Monday.

East Providence Police Captain Michael Rapoza said the crash on Forbes Street caused a power outage in Riverside.

Rhode Island Energy reported that over 3,000 customers in the area were without power late Monday night, most of whom had power restored by the end of the day.

Officials advised drivers to seek alternate routes if traveling in the area.
