Seven residents displaced after fire in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Seven residents in New Bedford are without a home this morning after a fire broke out on the first floor of their residence.
According to officials, the fire was first reported around 2 a.m. on Hemlock Street.
Upon arrivals, crews reported a smoke condition with visible flames in the first floor apartment.
All tenants were able to evacuate prior to our arrival, and 12 pets were able to escape safely or were brought to their owners by firefighters.
One resident was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
At this time, according to officials, the Red Cross is assisting the residents.
The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
