Severe Storms Threaten for Friday
Friday is a Storm Tracker Alert Day! A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect through 8pm Friday for an elevated risk of heat-related illnesses. You are advised to stay hydrated, check on segments of our population most susceptible to heat-related illnesses like the elderly and small children. Don’t forget your pets! put out plenty of fresh water and walkies should be on the grassy surfaces as the blacktop will be very very hot. On Friday, temperatures will be topping out in the lower-90s in the interior and the mid-80s along the coast. With the oppressive humidity that will be here Friday, it will make it feel like 95-101. Friday starts with sunshine and clouds build in through the morning in advance of a strong cold front. Starting at 1pm and lasting through about 9pm, we have a chance of showers and thunderstorms where some could be severe with damaging winds, hail, torrential downpours and frequent lightning. We clear the front Friday night and the humidity drops. As a result, Saturday is looking awesome with sunny skies, seasonable temperatures in the mid-80s, and comfortable humidity. Sunday finishes out the weekend with more cloudiness, highs in the lower-80s, and a chance of showers or even a thunderstorm. Going into the week ahead, we will see a sunny stretch with increasing heat and humidity. Highs will be 87 Monday, 91 Tuesday, and 89 Wednesday. Unsettled weather returns for Thursday with sun and clouds, a chance of showers and highs near 80.
