Severe weather causes traffic delays in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Severe weather caused major delays and in interruptions throughout Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.
Viewers shared videos and photos of the severe weather in the area.
Route 10 North in Providence was closed temporarily for significant flooding in both lanes.
The Rhode Island State Police shared in a social media post that the due to severe flooding, Route 10 at Union Avenue was blocked off.
They also shared that traffic would be diverted.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation also shared that there was also significant flooding on Warren Avenue in East Providence.

In a Tweet, the city of New Bedford shared that the regional airport was struck by lightning twice.
